Coming Up

We’ve got a few sweet projects going on press in the next few days and we’ll be taking a series or two of process shots so you can really get the low-down on what goes on from concepting to shipping out.

In the meantime- we want to give a monster ‘Thank You’ to Britt Aamodt and MNartists.org for the article written about us. We’ve been getting a whole lot of really great feedback about it and it seems to sum up our history and outlook real well. If you haven’t already, check it out:

“It’s September 2008, nearly two decades into the digital revolution (or more, depending on where you date its start), but the clamor emanating from Studio On Fire’s second-floor press room sounds more like the querulous grinding of machine parts than the sophisticated white noise of a 21st-century design studio. Because that’s what Studio On Fire is: a design studio parked on the fringes of Northeast Minneapolis, squirreled into one of the many refurbished warehouses that have collectively re-branded this blue-collar, industrial sector as an arts community…”

Post Design Camp ‘08

We’re back, and just like our neighborly buddy Chicago’s motto- in worse shape than we came in.

Pictures of all the truly great workshops and inspiring speakers could be posted… but wouldn’t you rather take a gander at what really went on in Design Camp’s greasy underbelly of Grain Belt fueled devilry and post-consumer rascality?

To all the proud people we met, laughed with, befriended, refrirended, upset, scared, and scarred: Thank you, we couldn’t have had a better time- no way, no how.

Toot

Some of our work has been featured in the current issue of Lucky Magazine and a write up has been published over at MNartists.org. Sweet, sweet deal.

Peace and Love, Man, Peace and Love

About a month ago, Ben cooked up a poster for this years Poster Offensive show, which will be opening on Friday the 3rd right here in marvelous Minneapolis, Minnesota.

You can’t buy the poster just yet- if that’s what’s rattlin’ around in that noggin of yours right about now… but… it will be available at the show, and at our online shop right afterwards.

Also, a pretty interesting article on the relevance of letterpress came through our freight elevator doors this afternoon, courtesy of Eye Magazine. Thinking In Solid Air

Pre Design Camp ‘08

And so the migration begins. Herds of designers from the tri-state area will be gorging their minds on design this weekend in Northern Minnesota. Of course we’ll be heading north as well, and as you may know, we were the proud provider of design and letterpress for the camp ephemera.

Hot Damn!

Welcome to the SOF blog… Finally we’ve got a place to share the innards of the studio, pressroom, and current projects.

Look forward to some good, good stuff.
