Letterpress Video at Studio On Fire

Gestalten TV was in our studio and put together a great video.

You can get the podcast on itunes here.

For their visit, we had a little project on press called “The Pressroom Creed” – printing on 220lb Lettra and will be available soon for sale on our site. It is an adaptation of the better known Rifleman’s Creed, but for letterpress printers. Seriously, everyone in our pressroom must memorize this and we say it together each morning.

    • this is awesome. can’t wait for it to go on sale so i can put it in my studio.

    • This is so effin’ cool. I totally need a creed…

    • great video guy, just like all your work. it has been a pleasure to work with you all.

    • I’ve hung around ad agency types for much of my career. They love to write creeds and manifestos for their clients so I figured we needed a creed for letterpress printing. Maybe it’s tongue in cheek, maybe it ain’t… I’m not sayin

    • Great video! Love the creed too.

    • Very nice video! I’ve been following you guys for just over a year, when I got my first letterpress. You have truly inspired me, thank you!

    • It’s amazing to see someone talk so passionated about what he’s doing. I recommend this video about Studio On Fire, the letterpress studio, to everybody out there!

    • Please can u give me the name of the tiny machine at 3;00 ?

    • It is a small galley style sign press, I’ve see other presses like this called show card presses – no inking or register system, but great for making a quick proof. The type is locked up in the bed of the press, then inked with a hand brayer. Paper is carefully clamped at one end of the press and laid over the type. A hard rubber impression roller is pulled over and across the back of the sheet to press the ink onto the sheet.

I have worked with Ben for many years….when he was just a 2 man shop along with his bride, Stacy.

At that time he had a dangerous stair case I needed to traverse and not fall off of when i visited.

As a business owner “he gets it” and his is a success story I take with me to other clients starting out.
