Designing your own wedding invitations has to be a designers most challenging project ever. And these are some to be proud of. The groom, Jefferson Perky of Perky Bros., designed these with an elegant typographic flair. They combine textural wood grain photography and letterpress printed type.
We produced these cards together on a 13 x 18 press sheet. The wedding invite was printed along with a save the date card, a thank you card, an accommodations card and a die cut vertical belly band. The stock was 100% cotton 110lbC Pearl White Crane Lettra. The wood grain was digitally printed, then the black type was letterpress printed.
When thinking about doing a letterpress wedding invitation it is important to consider all the cards you need upfront. We ultimately print everything together – saving us time and our clients cost. (Example – if you know you need a thank you card, plan to print it with the main invitation set.)

I live like 5 minutes from the Parthenon – this is going to be a gorgeous wedding. Great place to take pictures!
Holy sh*t it is utter beauty, a feast of aesthetic pleasure.
Just felt in love those swashes, especially the ligature/swash ‘AN’
You made my day
Cheers!

Absolutely loving the ligatures (I see I’m not the only one!)
I am so in love with this! The cool monochromatic color tone of these totally make the design flow so elegantly. Between the x-ray feeling of the natural wood elements and the swashes of the classic font, you have an amazingly sophisticated yet organic feel.
Beautiful!
This is gorgeous! Love the letterpressed text on the wooden background!
These invitations are so pretty. The wood grain look is so unique.
This is so beautiful!!! Could you please share the name(s) of the typeface(s) used?
oh yes! the scoop on the typeface would be much appreciated! thank you!
I LOVE these invitation. Please can you share the font name? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!
Have a best wedding!

Thanks for the kind words about the invites. The typeface used is Adobe Caslon Italic. Just pick your character swashes and embellish from there bashed on your design. I chose to swap the normal descenders and ascenders with one that was a bit more whimsical and had more of a tree-like feel.
THANKS JEFF!!!!
BEST!

This is gorgeous. I love it. The typeface is great but the design is even better. Lovely
Beautiful! Can we see the press sheets? Thanks!
wow that’s stunning. really attention grabbing!
These invitations are so pretty. The wood grain look is so unique.
The look and richness of these are incredible. I love the font and the design is so unique and personal. Great blog.
I love these invitations! Unique and outrageous somehow! Cool!
So, the swashes aren’t in the font correct? You designed them and basically made it an original font? Sorry to sound like an amateur, but I’ve ridiculously been searching for this font!
nice invitations! you digitally printed on lettra? i thought this wasnt possible? have been looking for a digital press that can handle it.
The best thing you can do is try some tests with a couple different digital presses. The 110lbC weight should run through fine.
Saturated colors seem a bit muted. You don’t know till you try.
Please do update about the font. Are the swashes Adobe Caslon? or a different font combined with Caslon?
I wish this font was available to buy or download. I’m currently designing my own wedding invitations and would love to use this font. DIY time then.
