1st 100,000 – Thanks Beast Pieces Readers

The benefit of slow times is they make us try new things. At the end of January it was a slow time in our studio, and we certainly don’t like to sit with idle hands. We had this blog started in 2008 but due to low content we were only seeing a trickle of 50 or so daily visitors. With a camera in hand, I started writing nearly every day here on beastpieces.com showing our press work in detail and talking about our production process. We never imagined the response. Six weeks later it has become part of our daily routine and a great extension of our studio to the design community. This week marks some sort of milestone for us – over 100,000 visits in the past six weeks.  We’ve heard from so many designers and made many new friends.

We live and breathe great design and production. We’d like to thank some of the fine blogging folks and design sites that have taken notice of beastpieces.com recently. We enjoy these sites and invite you to take a visit:

    • Just thought I’d pop in and let you know what an admirer of your work I am! I have yet to see even ONE project I don’t like. Thanks for the inspiration.

      Cheers,
      Kelly

    • Your blog has been a pleasure to see develop. It’s really taken off recently. The quality of posting is superb. I think it’s done so well because it alows us designers to take a peak into the world of the letterpress. A world which most graphic deigners love.

      Keep up the super work!

    • Letterpress is something I’d really love to learn more about. It’s still not as pervasive where I live, sadly.. but that just means that I appreciate your blog all the more. Your work has been a true inspiration, please keep blogging!

    • It’s difficult to say what’s missing, because my reason for subscribing is that I love what you feature.

Thinking less about content-specifics, I’d like to see the text change from white on black to black on white, but that’s always been a pet peeve of mine.

      Keep up the great work!

    • Congratulations!!! So exciting! you guys do amazing work and it’s one of my favorite daily reads. Cheers!

    • i love coming to this site everyday during my work hours and discovering new letterpress pieces. it’s a joy to look at all the amazing work your studio has produced. so please, keep it up! both the great work and the great blog entries (photos are excellent). one day when i get engaged i’ll be calling on you guys for your services. the work is top notch indeed.

    • Big admirer of your work. I would like you to post more about techniques, how-to and any quirks about letterpress. similar to the post you did with opaque ink and metallic ink. it’s a big nugget of information.

don’t mind the reversed type, but the off-white cream and the dark gray is a bit hard to read.

      cheers!

    • Love your work. Your custom and modern production techniques have taken my old perceptions of letterpress to a new level.

As for what I would like to see on your blog… have you considered publishing the actual costs of your projects? This would really help those of us new to letterpress understand the possibilities and intelligently make recommendations to our clients. It may also reduce your estimating time as I would have some idea of cost and what techniques fit my budget before approaching you for an estimate.

I understand every job is unique, and you may need to get permission from your clients to post the price, but it seems publishing the costs could benefit yourself and potential clients alike.

Again, well done, keep up the great work!
